Once we had learned all about biographies and rocks we started our Rock Bio!
Our first step was to research the different types of rocks, where they come from, how they are formed, and what they turn into. The students went to the computer lab and found some facts on their own and pulled from their memory about how the rock was formed.
Next, we created a rock interview. We had to interview the rock because that is how authors find out their information to write a biography.
Then each student started to create their booklet.
FINALLY OUR WHOLE CLASS WAS FINISHED AND WE ALL PRESENTED OUR BOOKLETS LIKE THIS!

Getting Started With Rocks
While we were learning about biographies in reading, we were also learning about the three different types of rocks. They learned the properties and how the three types of rocks were formed. (Igneous, Metamorphic, and Sedimentary) We did a lot of different activities to helo them understand their formation and properties. One of the cumulative activies we did was to create "Rock Recipes." The recipe went with how the different rock was formed. They had to predict hich recipe went with which rock and then we made all of the recipes!
